OerSocial is 13+: age, COPPA, and child safety

OerSocial is a social product with public posts, profiles, and messages. It is built for teens and adults, not for children under 13. This page exists so that rule is not buried in a checkbox nobody reads.

Why we ask at sign-up

When you create an account you must confirm that you are at least 13 years old and that you accept the Terms and Privacy Policy. That confirmation is required. We do not offer a kids mode, a child profile, cartoon navigation, or content designed for young children.

If we learn that someone under 13 created an account, we delete that account and related personal information. Email privacy@oersocial.com if you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has an account. Include enough detail to find the account. Do not send extra documents we did not ask for.

What to do if you see a child-safety problem

Use Report on the post and choose a child-safety reason, or email support@oersocial.com immediately. Do not circulate the material in other posts or messages as "proof." Staff treat these reports as urgent.

Advertising and children

Because the site is not directed at children, we do not configure the product as a child-directed experience under COPPA. Personalized ads are still subject to the cookie banner and to Google's own controls. We do not use OerSocial to collect personal information from children under 13.

Ads stay on editorial pages. We do not put ads on pages whose only purpose is chatting with minors, because those pages should not exist here.

What this means for teens

If you are 13 or older, you can use the product under the same rules as everyone else. Public posts are public. Do not post your school name, home address, or live location. Do not accept identity documents in DMs from strangers. Report accounts that ask for that.

Parents and guardians

OerSocial is not a classroom tool and not a playground. If you do not want a teenager on a public social network, do not create an account for them. If an account already exists and the person is under 13, contact privacy@oersocial.com.

Age rules are how we keep a public social site from becoming a child-directed product. They are not a slogan we added for an ad review.
