Community guidelines, reporting, and what happens next
What OerSocial does not allow, how Report works, and why moderation matters on a site that can show ads.
By OerSocial Editorial · August 10, 2026
Every public post on OerSocial is visible to other people. The same rules apply whether an account has ten followers or ten thousand. This article is the practical version of the Community Guidelines.
What is not allowed
Illegal activity, scams, and dangerous instructions are banned. Hate speech, harassment, threats, and bullying are banned. Sexually explicit content is banned. Any sexual content involving minors is banned and will be treated as an emergency. Graphic violence and content that glorifies self-harm are banned. Copyright theft, malware, phishing, impersonation, spam, and fake engagement are banned.
These rules exist for the people who use the site. They also exist because pages that display ads must not sit next to prohibited material. We keep Google ads on editorial pages we control. We still remove violating user posts when we find them, because the public site should not become a dump of banned content.
How to report
On a post, open the menu and choose Report. Tell us the reason. If you are signed in, we can store that report for moderators. If you are not signed in, email support@oersocial.com with the post URL and a short description.
Use Child safety as the reason, or email immediately, if the issue involves a minor. Do not reshare the material.
Other addresses:
- support@oersocial.com for general reports and account help
- privacy@oersocial.com for data requests
- ads@oersocial.com if an advertisement itself looks illegal or abusive
What we do with reports
Staff can remove a post, restrict an account, or ask for more information. We do not publish the name of the person who reported. We do not promise a public argument on every decision. We do treat reports as the way we find problems we did not see ourselves.
If you reported your own post by mistake, say so in email. If you want your own post gone, delete it from the post menu when you are the author.
Ads and violating content
We do not want ads next to content that breaks these rules. That is why ads are limited to guides, blog articles, and other publisher pages. The feed is for conversation, not for ad units sitting on unreviewed posts.
If a post is confirmed as a violation, it can be removed even if it already collected likes. Popularity is not a policy exception.
What good faith looks like
Disagreement is allowed. Harassment is not. A hard reply that stays on the topic is not the same as a pile-on that follows someone across threads. If you are unsure, write as if the other person will screenshot the post. They might.
Keeping the community usable is part of running a public site, not extra paperwork we added after the fact.
