Original work, copyright, and why copied feeds fail

OerSocial only works if people post work they have the right to share. Copying someone else's article, video, or photo and dropping it in the feed is not a growth strategy. It is a reason to remove the post.

Post what you made, or what you are allowed to share

If you created the photo, say so. If you are quoting a short passage, make it clear who wrote it. If you do not have permission, do not upload the file. "I found it on the internet" is not a license.

The guides on this site are original editorial writing about OerSocial. User posts are separate. We do not scrape other websites to fill the homepage. If the feed looks quiet, that is preferable to filling it with stolen text.

Copyright reports

If you believe your copyright was infringed, email support@oersocial.com with:

• A link to the post on OerSocial
• A description of the original work
• A way to reach you

We review these reports and may remove the material. We may also restrict accounts that repeatedly upload other people's work.

Why this matters beyond politeness

Pages that display ads must not be parked on stolen or automatically generated junk. That is a Google publisher issue as well as a community issue. We keep ads on editorial pages we write. We still remove user posts that are spam, scraped, or infringing when we find them, because those posts make the public site worse.

Search engines and reviewers who land on a site full of copied captions do not see a publication. They see a scraper with a login button. That is the "low value content" problem in plain language.

A better habit

Publish a smaller number of posts you would stand behind in public. Reply when you have something to add. Use Report when you see a copy-paste dump. Credit people when you quote them.

If you want to discuss someone else's article, write your own reaction and link it. Do not paste the article body into the composer.
