Ads, cookies, and how OerSocial uses Google AdSense
Where ads may appear, how the cookie banner works, and what we will never ask you to do with an ad.
By OerSocial Editorial · August 12, 2026
OerSocial uses Google AdSense to show ads on selected public editorial pages. This is the plain-language version of that setup. It is not an affiliate store, and it is not a program that pays you to click ads.
Where ads can appear
Ads are intended for original publisher pages: guides, blog articles, About, Contact, and policy pages. They are labeled Advertisement so they are not confused with a post or an article. Ads are not shown on login, sign-up, messages, settings, notifications, bookmarks, or admin tools.
We do not place ads in the main social feed next to like and reply buttons. Accidental clicks on a social network are a policy problem as well as a trust problem.
What we will not do
- We will not ask anyone to click ads
- We will not pay people to click ads
- We will not overlay ads on top of the main text
- We will not disguise an ad as a community post
- We will not open extra pop-unders
If you see behavior that looks like that, email ads@oersocial.com.
Cookies and consent
Essential cookies keep you signed in and help protect the site. Those are required for the service.
Advertising cookies are optional. The banner at the bottom of the site lets you accept or reject ads cookies. If you reject them, we ask Google not to use personalized advertising cookies here. You can also use Google Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads and the industry opt-out pages linked from the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Why ads are not on every URL
A social network has a lot of pages that are thin if you are not in the conversation: empty search, a new profile, a private inbox. Those pages should not be treated as inventory. Publisher pages that we write, and that stay available without an account, are the pages we are willing to monetize.
