What OerSocial is, and who it is for

OerSocial is a public creator community for original posts, replies, and editorial guides—not a scraped magazine and not a child-directed app.

By OerSocial Editorial · August 4, 2026

OerSocial is a social network for people who publish their own work. You can post text, images, video, and audio, follow other accounts, reply in public threads, and read longer articles written by the OerSocial team. The product exists so original conversation has a place to live. It is not a news scraper. It is not a keyword dump. It is not a kids' app.

If you land here without an account, you should still be able to tell what the site is for. That is why we keep a public library of guides, an About page, contact addresses, and community rules. The signed-in feed is for people who already chose to participate. The public pages are for everyone else, including search engines and advertising reviewers who need to see real publisher content.

What you can do here

The home feed shows public posts once you sign in. Explore is for finding people, hashtags, and conversations. Profiles collect someone's public posts. Stories are short-lived. Direct messages, notifications, bookmarks, settings, and admin tools stay private. Those private surfaces do not show ads.

The Guides section and the blog are editorial. We write them. They explain how the product works, how moderation works, and how advertising is disclosed. If a page is a guide, it should still make sense if every user post on the site disappeared tomorrow.

Who it is for

OerSocial is for creators and audiences who want a straightforward place to publish and talk. That includes people posting updates, photographers, musicians sharing audio, and writers who want replies instead of a comment plugin. It is not for affiliate mills, scraped galleries, or accounts that exist only to funnel clicks into ads.

You must be at least 13 to create an account. We do not offer a child profile, a kids mode, or content designed for young children. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it.

What we will not fill the site with

We do not generate filler articles to hit a word count. We do not copy other websites to look busy. User posts belong to the people who write them. If a post is spam, scraped, hateful, sexual, or otherwise banned, it can be removed. Report is on the post menu. You can also email support@oersocial.com.

Why this page exists

A social product can look empty to a visitor who is not signed in. That is a real problem if the only public URL is a blank feed. These guides exist so the publisher side of OerSocial is visible: who runs it, what the rules are, and how to use it without guessing.

If you want the short version: post work you made, follow people you actually want to read, report abuse, and use the editorial pages when you need the official explanation.
